Adam : "Hi Mary"
Mary : "Hi"
Adam : "May I come to see you this afternoon, Mary?"

(Adam said that he want to come this afternoon)

Mary : "Certainly"

(Mary said that she agreed)

Adam : "What time will you be at home?"

(Adam asked when Mary was at home)

Mary : "I'll be at home all afternoon"

(Mary said that she at home all afternoon)

Adam :  "Fine. I'll come at about five o'clock"

(Adam said that he'll came at about five o'clock)

Mary : "All right. I'll be waiting for you at about five o'clock"

(Mary said that she'll be waited Adam at about five o'clock)

Adam : "See you, Mary"
Mary : "See you"

Theory of Quoted Speech and Reported Speech

Direct Speech / Quoted Speech
>>> Menyatakan apa yang orang katakan sebenarnya. Dan diikuti oleh tanda petik di awal kalimat atau akhir kalimat, tidak dihubungkan dengan kata "that".



Indirect Speech / Reported Speech
>>>Kalimat yang memberikan isi pokok kata-kata tersebut dan bukan kata sebenarnya. Indirect Speech / Reported Speech tidak diikuti dengan tanda kutip di awal dan akhir kalimat, melainkan dihubungkan dengan kata "that". Bentuk waktu Reported speech harus diubah menjadi bentuk lampau.
